British doctors have stated that people will be able to grow their own livers within five years if they were waiting for a transplant.

Skin from patients' arms was turned by Cambridge University researchers into liver cells. They said that full-sized livers could be made using this technique that would be just apt for the patient.

Liver disease is touching an all-time high and the breakthrough comes amidst this. These findings would also mean more research into this.

Every year about 600 transplants are carried out but there are some patients who die waiting for a donor but do not get one.

Slivers of skin are taken form patients and they are turned into stem cells using cocktail of chemicals. These cells are master cells and are able to turn into other cell types. These stem cells were then made into liver cells.

There are many people who die of a liver disease and the number has been witnessing a sharp rise as about 16, 000 people die of liver problems in Britain
