May is Hepatitis Awareness Month
National Hepatitis Testing Day on May 19th
May is dedicated to highlighting the silent epidemic of chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections that affects more than 5 million Americans. Most, however, are unaware of their infection. To boost screening rates, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has designated May 19 as National Hepatitis Testing Day. May is National Hepatitis Awareness Month and the goal is to highlight the silent epidemic of more than 5 million Americans suffering from chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections. With most Americans unaware that they are infected with these serious liver infections, it is essential to improve screening and testing rates to reduce the burden of illness and death from these diseases.
May 19 is National Hepatitis Testing Day, an educational initiative of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Division of Viral Hepatitis and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, to boost screening rates in the U.S.
